

Peter Jackson Russell, aged 28, died on February 5 in New York City of an accidental drug overdose. He was born November 19, 1985 in Portland to Astrid Bowlby and Gary Miceli and was adopted at birth by Robert and Linda Russell. He attended Deering High School and graduated from the Elan School in 2004. Peter had a natural athletic ability and was skilled in karate, ice-skating, skiing, snowboarding, and skateboarding. Peter had a charming personality and developed a wide circle of friends in Maine and New York. He worked various jobs and was recently developing skills as a tattoo artist and graphic t-shirt designer. He had great natural talent as a pencil and ink artist and had hopes to attend the Fashion Institute of Technology. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his brother Benjamin Russell of New York, and his son Peter Ryan "Petey" Russell of Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico. Also surviving him are his grandfather, H.J. Russell of Roanoke, Virginia and many uncles, aunts, and cousins.
A service of remembrance will be held on Sunday, March 30 at 1:00 PM at Williston-Immanuel United Church, 156 High Street, Portland, Maine. A spring burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Portland, Maine.
