

Richard "Dick" Brown moved on to greener fairways on August 3, 2016. Born to Alice and Edward Brown on February 9, 1942 in Kansas City, Missouri. He graduated from Portland High School and served in the US Navy. Richard spent his working career in food service sales with Jordan's Meats and Rykoff Sexton among others. He was a long time member and past President of the Woodfords Club. Brownie loved being part of the "Dew Sweepers" at Riverside Golf Course, where he played for many years. He was a proud member of Alcoholics Anonymous with 28 years of sobriety for which he thanked God every day. He supported so many and helped them along their road to recovery.
He was preceded in death by his son, Edward; his parents; brothers Carl and Roy and sisters Janet, Inez and Laura. Survivors include his wife Barbara; daughter Karen; brothers James, Luke, David, and Joseph; and sisters Carolyn and Lee; and numerous nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind beloved felines Sally, Sophie and Sunny.
He will be missed by many. Hit 'em straight and Godspeed Richard!
Friends and family are invited to attend a time of memorial visitation on Tuesday evening August 9, 2016 from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. in the Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home 199 Woodford St. Portland, Maine. A private graveside service will be held at a later date in the Evergreen Cemetery in Portland, Maine.
