

Born in Beverly, Massachusetts, on May 21, 1939, he was the son of William and Helen (Greene) Caldwell. Dick grew up in Beverly, attending local schools and graduating from Beverly High School before continuing his education at Wentworth Institute, where he earned his bachelor’s degree.
After graduation, he married D. Brenda Dodge, and together they made their home in Beverly. Dick began his career with Knight’s Lumber Company and remained dedicated to the building supply industry throughout his life, retiring from LaValley Lumber in Sanford, Maine.
Dick lived an active and engaged life. He enjoyed kayaking and was known for his daily workouts at the gym. An avid golfer, he was proud to have achieved a hole-in-one. He gave generously of his time, serving as Chief of the Gorham Volunteer Rescue Squad and as a leader in the Cub Scouts. He also drove the van for the University of Southern Maine tennis team and volunteered at the gate during basketball games. In addition, he served as president of the Ridgefield Association homeowners’ board in Gorham.
Dick is survived by his wife of 66 years, Brenda; his son, Steven and his wife Dawn, his daughter Lori, and his son Jeffrey and his wife Lisa; his grandchildren, Matthew, Caitlin, Nathan, and Justin; and his four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Judy Carter, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to attend a time of visitation on Friday, December 12, 2025, from 3-6 PM at Jones, Rich & Barnes Funeral Home, 199 Woodford St. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at 11:00 AM at West Gorham Union Church, 190 Ossipee Trail, Gorham. Interment will be at the Eastern Cemetery in Gorham in the Spring.
