Brad and I are beyond devastated to hear about Bob. He made a big impact on our lives with his love and support on our business venture. We first met Bob because he was an anonymous donor who brought us to our goal during a kickstarter campaign to build our business. It was very impactful. He was so humble about his support.

We enjoyed keeping Bob up to speed on our plans and valued his feedback. We loved when he'd visit the brewery to chat both about business and life! My heart hurts for you, Karen, and the family. We're here for you... so much love and prayers.

Bob and I shared the parlor of an old home in Augusta with three other people as our office space for two years (1988-1990) on the Maine financial system project. We developed a strong bond during that time. He stayed at our house in Olney, Md while attending business conferences in Washington, DC in the early 90s. Once he decided to play tennis with someone in the parking lot of the townhouse development. Luckily, no car windows in the lot got broken. He called me Bonehead and that was how I referred to him also. I will miss Bob dearly.

I was so saddened to hear of Bob's passing. We worked closely together in IT at WEX. Our offices were next to each other and we spent a lot of time together. After I left WEX, we (usually along with Sally Emery) would get together every few months to catch up and that continued for over 10 years. He always had a smile on his face and stories to tell. He was a joy to be with. I ran into him and Steve Amsden this summer at Dockside in Falmouth and we had a long conversation. We had some good laughs about the "old days". I am going to miss seeing and being with him. My heart goes out to Karen and the children and their families.

Karen and family ... i am so sorry and devastated to hear about Bob's passing.  i have so many great memories of working with bob.  Presidents club trips, Toronto client visits, holiday parties and my first visit to Maine.  "Bob the builder" is what his client called him.  He got that nick name because he brought everyone together with calm, grace and civility.  Bob would always greet me with a giant bear hug and ear to ear smile.  I hope i never took that for granted.   Bob was truly a legend in our business;  there are very few people who accomplished the level of success he achieved.   There is a reason why he was so successful;  he was a magnet that attracted people toward him.  You wanted to be in Bob's inner circle.  I can't grasp that he is no longer on this earth but truly hope that he has found peace.  hugs to you all. 

I worked with Bob for over 10 years starting with Cue Data Services and lastly NTT Data. Bob was a people person and he was very successful at what he did. Over the years, he was always very easy to work with and we made a lot of deals together in the staffing business. We were referred to as "Todd the bod" and "The Bob" when a new deal was announced. I liked the fact that very rarely did Bob ever get upset, he was always very even keeled. I considered it to be a great work relationship we had over the years and 3 months ago when we said good by to that work relationship, I never thought it would be the final good by. It was very had to see Bob go, but not as hard as the day I found out he was gone. My heart goes out to the family and I pray that you will find the real peace and joy that comes only when you have a person relationship with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

In the Spring of 1985, I joined Tau Kappa Epsilon. My stay at Husson University was coming to a close, however. My life had to change for many reasons. I am shocked at Mr. Bruder's passing, and would like to share that he along with my "older" brothers, gave me the support to successfully join TKE and make some lifelong friends. He enjoyed a laugh, Looney Tunes reruns, made us all smile..shared a cold brew. One day I was working on an old amplifier for a friend replacing some electronic components. Bob observed what I was doing, with solder,  volt meter and soldering iron at hand. He waited to "laugh" at me at the moment when it was time to power the unit up and test for life...with a smile and sarcastic laugh a trademark of Bob. The unit  worked, played loud and clear! He gave me a thumbs-up-disappointed-laugh because it worked! But of course, he wanted me to be successful. I regret not having the chance to know "WAZ" better! My big heart and comforting thoughts go out to the families, friends, and my TKE brothers during this time of sadness!

I moved to Falmouth for a job with TD with my family back in 2003. Bob was one of the first people I met when I showed up for work. He was smiling from ear to ear. I don't remember what he said to me but his smile said it all: 1) boy are you in for some "fun," 2) it's great to meet you, 3) I'm a troublemaker (in a good way), 4) I like to have fun whatever I'm doing, 5) I don't take myself too seriously, I'm legitimately interested in getting to know you, tell me what you need - I'll help you with just about anything. 
I couldn't help but smile back. His outlook was contagious!


Bob’s Payback,
Back when we were in college and TKE brothers, I had the reputation as a bit of a practical joker.  We have all known someone like me.  The guy who just takes things a little too far or too often.  Inevitably, his actions illicit whispers of payback and revenge from those that have been the brunt of those jokes.
One day, two brothers, Bob and Rutman and a cohort of others decided they were going to restore balance in the world.  I needed to be taught a lesson. If I could dish it out then I needed to learn to take it.  They devised an ingenuous plan that involved a trip to the local pet store to purchase a large quantity of crickets. That night they waited until everyone was asleep and brought their crawling purchase to the hallway just outside my dorm room.  The door was locked while I slept but there was a small gap at the bottom.  They carefully guided each and every cricket under my door and into my dark room.
I can’t even begin to express the pure joy and elation that these two brothers had telling their story of payback to all that would listen over the next few weeks.  Bob had that infectious laugh as he would describe how I had to endure the echoing white noise of crickets chirping under my bed each night. 
Next time you are outside on a summer’s evening, listen to the sound of the crickets and the croaking frogs which might remind you of Bob chuckling back when times were simpler.

Waz was the best man in our wedding and was responsible for handling the ring, for the vow exchange. We had an awesome week leading up to the wedding with numerous outings/events and of course jokes & pranks.

While we were dressing for the ceremony, Waz had a classic prank pulled on him that I will never forget. Our TKE Fraternity joker Doug Mehne,went into Bob's tux and exchanged the ring Waz was holding for the ceremony,with a coin. Bob noticed this just prior to the ceremony,but Doug acted like he had no idea what he was talking about.

The ceremony time came and the priest asked for the ring. Bob told the priest " I don't have it ". He reached into his pocket and pulled out the nice pouch he had put the ring in....and found the quarter ! The look on his face and that of the priest & my soon to be wife, was priceless. We then starting hearing light laughter from the crowd . The "lost" ring that Doug had swapped out, was slowly being passed from the end of the groomsman line, back to Bob. In typical Waz fashion, he presented the ring, like nothing ever happened , with a big smile on his face.

That is the guy I will always remember. There are lots of Bob's in the world. There was only one WAZ . Love you Man !

Bob....you put everyone else first.  You brought people together and kept people grounded.  In a sea of chaos, you were the constant anchor.  As I replay all of the memories from the past 20+ years, each and every one includes you with a wide smile, a funny comment, a caring sentiment and a positive perspective.  It was impossible to be sad when you were around.  What I adored most about you was the love you have for your beautiful wife and your kids.  Thank you for being a wonderful role model.  You are loved deeply and will be missed until we meet again.

Bob always loved a good day at Scarborough Downs betting on the horses.  He was a wonderful man and always did for others.  He was a god sent to me last year when both my parents were in the hospital.  Love ya' Bob and I will NEVER forget you.  Love and prayers to all of Bob's family.

Oh my friend,  my heart is broken. We were high school friends which carried into college friends. I will forever think of you when I hear the songs Hang Fire and Shanty.  I am so grateful to have had you in my life! R.I.P. my friend.

So many laughs while at WEX and I am profoundly saddened. Always a smile and a warm handshake whether at work or parties.  You are already missed. 

I am so sorry to hear of Bob’s passing. He and I worked together at TD Bank and I considered him to be a mentor and a direct influence on my career. 
I recall a trip we once had to take to Augusta, where Bob drove in his new SUV that a fancy new dashboard GPS. He was so excited about showing off how it worked and we asked it to find a Chinese restaurant. The GPS chose one that was back in Portland and kept directing us to use the emergency U-turns to turn around and go back to Portland. It took us 15 minutes to get the stupid thing to stop, with every U-turn we passed prompting another order to turn around and a string of obscenities from Bob.  It was one of the most fun business drives I’ve ever been on. 
He will be greatly missed.

We met Bob back in 1992 when Glen worked with Bob in IT at LL Bean.  We quickly became close friends golfing, skiing, running occasional road races, hanging at the “Brook”, and of course attending the famous parties hosted by Karen and Bob!  Bob was always smiling and truly loved being with people.  He was incredibly generous and would give you the shirt of his back.  Although we did not see Bob as frequently as in prior years,  we always held the Bruder’s fondly in our thoughts and would meet occasionally to catch up.   We are beyond heart broken and will miss him very much!   Our condolences go out to Karen and her entire family.

My deepest sympathies to the entire Bruder family.  Bob and I worked together for years. We shared a lot of laughs together in our journey at TD Bank.  He never had a cross word for anyone and was always willing to help in any situation.  Anytime I saw Bob it was like little time had passed; he was just that kind of guy. Bob was a special part of some of the most fun times and years of my college life.  After college I did not see Bob for many years but recently spent some time with him playing golf and socializing.
