Sandra Colello Twombly, age 72, passed away peacefully on July 27, 2020 surrounded by her family. She was born on December 15, 1947 in Portland Maine to Gaetano and Mary Colello. She married her longtime friend and love, Grant Twombly on July 27, 1967.
For over 30 years, Sandra worked for attorney, G. Charles Shumway II.
Sandra was most proud of family. She was a dedicated, thoughtful, nurturing, kind and loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, godmother and friend - she treasured and embraced every moment with them. She especially loved her role as Gran - grandmother to Cam, Sam and Kate. She taught us all the meaning of FAMILY. She had a very strong faith and gave generously to people.
She took her role as a child of God very serious and always put everyone before herself. She knit for the hosptial and her church - for people she would never meet. She took great pride in cooking and baking for friends and family. She was generous with her time. She was always willing to help anyone who needed it. She was respectful of other people’s feelings and needs. She lived a simple life as giving to others, thinking of others, going the extra mile was more important to her than material things.
Sandra lived by the mantra, “Do what’s right and do what’s good. Be kind and help others” similar to the Bible verse, Ephesian 4:32 - "And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ”.
Sandra is survived by the love of her life, Grant; her daughter Denise Twombly and fiancé Jesse Philbrick; son Steve Twombly and favorite daughter-in-law Michelle Twombly and their children Cam, Sam and Kate Twombly; her brothers Sonny and Joseph; her sisters Angelina White and Maryrose Filieo; and her many cousins, nieces, nephews and godchildren. She was predeceased by her friend and loving sister, Kerree Twombly. They have been reunited in heaven along with their parents.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s hospital. She has been giving to this meaningful organization for years and it would make her heart happy to know they are still receiving support in her name.
Services will be by invitation only due to COVID. A Mass of Christian Burial will be live streamed. Please see the link below to join the live streaming of services.
