

Virginia (Ginny) Goodrich McIntire, 89, of Devon, Pennsylvania, died peacefully on March 1 in her beloved state of Maine. She is survived by 2 children, 9 grandsons, and 12 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband of 40 years, Dr. Clarence E. McIntire, and daughters Linda M. Perkins and Katherine R. McIntire.
She was born in Pittsfield, Massachusetts on September 9, 1922, the daughter of Edrie M. and George P. Goodrich. She was a 1944 graduate of the University of Maine at Orono, where she met and married Clarence E. McIntire and then moved to Boston while her husband attended Tufts Dental School. Following graduation and military service, they settled in Portland, Maine where they opened a dental practice and raised their family.
Ginny was a former member of Woodfords Congregational Church, the Junior League of Portland and the Portland Country Club. She served on the Board of Friends of Maine Medical Center, the Cerebral Palsy Center board, and was past president of Deering High School Music Parents Association, all in Portland. She was also the office manager of her husband’s dental practice.
In 1995 she moved to Devon, PA to live with her daughter Nancy and family. She continued her volunteer work at Community Volunteers in Medicine (CVIM) in West Chester, PA. She was a sustaining member of the Junior League of Philadelphia and a member of St Mary’s Episcopal Church in Wayne, PA.
Devoted to family, she was known as Mimi to her grandsons and great grandchildren. She loved fly fishing with her husband, time on Casco Bay with friends and family and was an excellent cook and avid baker. She will be dearly missed by her son, Paul G. McIntire and his wife Shevawn McIntire, her daughter Nancy M. Tooker and her husband John Tooker, nine grandsons - David M. Perkins, Jeremy G. Perkins, Jason M. Yarrington, Justin S. Yarrington, P. Gregory McIntire, Nicholas I. McIntire, Jacob M. McIntire, Graham M. Tooker, Evan L. Tooker - and 12 great grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to a Memorial Service at 10 amSaturday, March 10 at St Mary’s Episcopal Church in Wayne, PA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to:
