“Billy Bean”
Portland - William James Bean Jr. “Billy Bean”, 37, of Portland, passed away Saturday December 25, 2010. He was born November 19, 1973 in Portland, son of Joanne Haines Pettengill and William Bean, Sr. He graduated from Portland High School, in the class of 1993 and attended The Baran Institute of Technology in West Haven, Connecticut where he received a diploma in HVAC in 1995. He attended Southern Maine Technical College of South Portland, ME and completed a High Pressure Boiler/Engineer course in 1997.
Billy had a great love for the outdoors as well as the Red Sox, Celtics and the New England Patriots. He loved hunting, hiking, darts, snowmobiling, fishing and camping. He was extremely thrilled to bag his first bear in 2004 calling his mom right away with pride. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was always quick with a joke or a hug, whichever was needed. He worked at Maine Medical Center for several years in the engineering department and was well known for his quick wit. On any given Sunday you could find Billy sitting at his Moms spending time watching a sporting event while enjoying a cold beer.
Billy’s biggest attributes were having a big heart and a great sense of humor. He would give anybody the shirt off his back if needed. He was well liked by everyone and was extremely close to his mother and father. In one way or another Billy touched the hearts of everyone he knew and because of this will never be forgotten.
He is survived by his mother Joanne and stepfather Donald Pettengill of Westbrook, his father William James Bean Sr. of Portland, his sister Linda Raymond and her husband Jamie, their children Ella, Nolan and Benjamin, his sister Michelle LeClair, and her children, Jason “nephew”, Bayli and Samantha.
