Barbara Ann Sousley, 77, of Milwaukie, Oregon passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 8, 2026, surrounded by loving family members. Barbara was born on June 18, 1948, to Alice (Lynch) and Don Allen at the naval hospital in San Diego, CA. Both her parents were in the Navy, so her family moved several times, until they came to settle in Beaverton, OR. She was a graduate of Sunset High School in 1966 and went on to Portland Community College where she met the love of her life, Will Sousley. She married Will on November 4, 1967, becoming a loving mother to Will’s daughter, Shelley and son, Steve. Barbara and Will went on to have two children together: son, Lee and daughter, Lisa. Barbara started her career working at the Portland US Bank main office in the Proof Department. She was there for many years before transitioning into a career typing court transcripts (allowing her to work from home to be with her children). When Will retired from the Oregonian newspaper in 2007, Barbara also retired. Barbara was an avid reader, golfer, fisherwoman, bowler and lover of games, but most of all, she loved her family. In more recent years, she loved watching birds at the Clackamas River and singing. Throughout their marriage, Barbara upheld and started many family traditions around the holidays, bringing together as much of the family as possible. She is survived by her husband, Willis, their four children: Shelley (Terry) Dieterle, Steve Sousley, Lee (Ann) Sousley, Lisa (Jason Trujillo) Schuler, her treasured 9 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren, her brother, Mike (Jacqui) Allen, as well as numerous beloved family members both of blood and choice. Our family would like to extend a deep appreciation to Tenderly Hospice, the staff of Visiting Angels (especially Sidney), the staff of Bonaventure of Milwaukie (especially Jessica and crew), Taylor Schuler (caregiver and granddaughter), Finley-Sunset Hills Mortuary and everyone who has provided care to Barbara these last few months. As a family, we will be forever grateful for the support and kindness shown. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating in Barbara’s name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. There will be a Celebration of Life held at The Aerie at Eagle Landing 10220 SE Causey Avenue, Happy Valley, OR 97086 on Sunday, February 1, 2026 from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. with remembrance ceremony at 2:30. Kindly RSVP by January 22nd by calling the funeral home at 503-292-6654. Regardless of whether you can attend, consider wearing blue that day in honor of Barbara.
