Beverly was born in St. Maries, Idaho to Charles Austin and Doris (Carpenter). While attending cosmetology school in Spokane, Wash., she married Ronald L. Bowmer. As a homemaker, Beverly was known to always have a place at the table for friends of her children who needed a home away from home. A divorce in her early 40’s began a new chapter in which she learned how to drive and began working outside the home. As an employee at Providence Milwaukie Hospital, beginning as a cook and retiring as a dietary supervisor, she was a friend and trusted confidant to everyone who kept the hospital kitchen humming. She loved dogs, bowling, and growing tomatoes and roses. Beverly was a breast cancer survivor and a mother who outlived 3 of her 5 children. Her love, resiliency, and strength will live on in all who loved her.
Beverly was preceded in death by her sisters, Winifred Edwards and Shirley Packard; her children Steven, Ricki, and Charlotte. She is survived by her brother, Jerry Austin (Bonnie) of Ferndale, Calif.; children, Randy Bowmer (Chris) of Mulino and Susan Bowmer of Clackamas; grandchildren, Nicole Bowmer of Portland, Jeromy Bowmer (Cori) of Terrebonne, Brian Bowmer (Angie) of Molalla, Daniel Bowmer (Mindy) of Myrtle Creek, Nick Wilson (Laura) of Tewksbury, Mass, Travis Wilson (Monica) of Louisville, Kentucky, three great-grandchildren with one more on the way, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank the caring nurses at Providence Hospice, and the extraordinary staff at Better Living foster care in Gladstone (Cora, Sam, Linda, Edwin, Willy, Glenn and Emily) for the exceptional care given to Beverly, with a special thank you to Cora for her compassion in Beverly’s final hours. If you wish to contribute in lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be sent to the Molalla Fire Department https://molallafire.org who provided assistance to Beverly in her final years with grace and humor.
