Bobbie Jean Black was born March 13, 1935, in Curtis, Arkansas, to Christopher Guinn, Sr., and Florine Gleason Guinn. Bobbie departed this life in Portland, Oregon, on April 8, 2015, after battling an illness for several years.
Bobbie was raised in Curtis and graduated from Wilson High School in Malvern, Arkansas. In 1955, she moved to Portland to live near extended family. In 1963, she married Charles Edward Black and soon after, added two sons to this union, Patrick Bernard Black and Thomas Wesley Black (both of Portland, Or).
Bobbie worked in administrative positions within the Portland Public School system at Sabin Elementary and Adams High School. She briefly worked in several caregiver roles while her family lived in Bellevue, Washington. Bobbie loved caring for elderly patients and they loved her.
Anyone who knew Bobbie knew she loved people, her family, and pets. Her friendliness and gift of entertaining attracted many family and friends to her warm home. She enjoyed fishing, shopping, cooking family dinners, gardening, watching sports, and her weekly card game with a special group of girlfriends. She was also a long-time member of the LeFemmes Social Group. She raised several four-footed family members of her own and often dog-set for others. Through the discomfort of this illness, she continued to do all these things she loved.
Bobbie was preceded in death by her husband Charles, parents, brothers Christopher Guinn, Jr., and Carl Guinn and her beloved pets: Sophie, Sugar Bear, Dillinger, and Rusty.
She leaves to mourn her passing two sons; grandchildren: Jurrell Black, Wesley Black, Jeannette Warthon, Nichelle Warthon, Kione Black, and great-grandson Detrek Black; brothers Rayford Guinn, Portland, OR, Tommy Guinn (Davetta), Wilmington, NC, and Rickie Hendrix (Cinda), Vancouver, Wa.; sisters Samuella Dedmon, Portland, OR, Vivian Locke and Betty Sherman (Harry) of Malvern, AR, Audrey Stigler of Dallas, TX, Beverly Meeks (Aaron) of Delight, AR, Lynetta Guinn, Arkadelphia, AR; and special friends John and Maxine Dyton and Betty Stephens; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends who loved her.
