

Carl Robert Deters Born December 28, 1943 and Died November 9, 2024, in home hospice surrounded by his family. He was born and raised in Portland, OR, by his mother, Erna L Deters and his stepfather, Robert A Deters. Immediately after graduation from Clackamas High School he joined the US Army and spent three years in Germany. On return home from the Army in 1964, he began dating his wife of fifty-nine years, and they were married in July, 1965.
He became a member of Sheet Metal Workers Local 16 for nearly 10 years. After which he spent several years in the Investment Division of Standard Ins. Co., in the Real Estate Department. He worked for Rosenberg Real Estate Equity Fund in Property Management. He then became a commercial real estate broker, handling purchases for Standard and others while employed at National Properties, National Mortgage Company. He retired in 2011, and spent years traveling with Susan enjoying his family, playing golf (experiencing 2 holes in one.
During his active years in the community he served as Chairman of BOMA and was a member of the Oregon Mortgage Bankers Association. He also worked with Clayton Hering raising funds for the Oregon Vietnam Memorial to be built.
He is survived by his wife, Susan, two daughters, Dawn Marie Mitchell and her husband Ray; and Brandi Jo Withers and her husband Chris. He leaves five grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, his parents and his stepbrother. He succumbed to Alzheimer’s and Emphysema.
There will be a Celebration of Carl’s life in the late Spring, 2025.
