Carol was born and raised in Portland, Ore. She graduated from Wilson High School in 1965, and received an Associate’s Degree from Portland Community College for Library Education in 1970. During that time, she was a member of the Multnomah Athletic Club (MAC) Junior Swim Team, and received many awards for her swimming achievements. She also received recognition for work she did with the American Red Cross.
In December 1966, Carol met Lloyd Beemer at a MAC Christmas party. They were married on Jan. 17, 1969, in Portland, Ore., and welcomed two sons, Dwight and Stephen. The couple was also blessed with five grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren, for whom Carol enjoyed knitting blankets.
While living in Portland, Carol was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Portland.
Carol loved to travel. She and Lloyd had many great adventures together; and although favorite memories are abundant, the greatest joy was found in the simple peace of each other’s company.
Carol had a playful spirit; she was often smiling, laughing, and teasing. She would call Lloyd “fruitcake,” to which he would respond by calling her “pumpkin head.”
Carol is survived by her husband, Lloyd; sister, Karen; brother, Fred; sons, Dwight and Stephen; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her younger sister, Candice Cook.
Carol leaves a powerful legacy in all who were fortunate to know her. She will be remembered as a sweet and loving angel with some mischievous notions. She was a generous, caring woman, who loved fiercely. Her memory will be forever cherished.
A funeral service will be held at 12:30 p.m., Fri., Oct. 28, 2022, in Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home, 11801 SE Mt. Scott Blvd., Portland, Ore., 503-771-1117. A visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be in Willamette National Cemetery.
