Clolon O. "Slim" Albright

January 19, 1935 ~ January 14, 2011

Beloved husband to Lorene Albright, Slim was born in Muscadine, Alabama on January 19, 1935. After high school Slim joined the Navy and served his country honorably. He learned his future trade as an electrician in the military. It was apparent by all who knew Slim that he was very accomplished in this field.

Slim later moved from Alabama to Portland, Oregon in the early 1960’s. He worked his way up the ranks to become the sole owner of Elco-Electric, and ran a very successful business on the industrial side of the market. His company worked on huge projects throughout Oregon, Washington and other states across the nation. Amongst those in the trade, Slim was known for his troubleshooting ability, his quality workmanship, his honest and reliable approach to each task, and his excellent work ethic. One memory that sticks out is of Slim flying from Portland to Alabama one morning, fixing a problem that no one else could solve, and returning to Portland that same night. Colleagues in the electronics industry often said that Slim was the very best in the business. Slim sold his company and retired in 1999.

Slim met, fell in love with, and married Lorene (Margheim) Albright in 1976. Together they mentored their six children: Rick, Gary, Doug, Bill, Chris, and Kelly. Slim was a devoted husband and father, always able to be counted on to be there for his children. He was known to lend a hand for any occasion to his sons and daughter. In fact, Slim was known to lend a hand to anyone in need. He was adored by his family and his friends. Even strangers were drawn to Slim by his easy southern nature, his generosity, and his friendly approach to everyone he met.

Slim enjoyed time with his family of 6 children, 9 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren. Known as “Gramps” or “Grandpa”, Slim was adored and admired. A devout Christian, Slim served his church in many ways. He donated countless hours to the church as an usher and lending his expertise as an electrician.

Slim was an avid outdoorsman and loved to fish and hunt. He showed his sons the tricks of how to catch a fish, and shared so many stories of his life in the South. Even if fish weren’t biting, it was a joy to share the day with a hook in the water.

The most remarkable thing about Slim was his love and devotion to Lorene. Even though they had known each other for over 35 years, they acted like newlyweds, sharing each day with love, affection, and adoring consideration.

Slim will be missed by all who knew him. The comforting and known thought is that Slim is now in the loving arms of Jesus.
