

Dale Clark Sumner, age 71, passed away on Sunday, December 2, 2018 at his home with family around him. Dale was born July 27, 1947 to Ardella and Glenn Sumner in Dawson, Minnesota. Dale went to Boyd Grade School and Boyd High School. Dale entered the US Marine Corps, June of 1967. Sergeant Sumner served in the Vietnam War where he received 2 Purple Hearts. He was honorably discharged from the Marines in June of 1970. Dale moved to Portland, Oregon in December of 1970. During his life, Dale worked for Marshall Contractors, Bingham Willamette, Trojan Nuclear Power Plant and Gunderson's. Dale is a member of the American Legion Post 30. He loved hunting and watching his grandchildren play sports. Dale is survived by his wife, Barbara Sumner of 47 years of marriage; his daughter, Amy-June McClure; son, Scott Sumner and daughter-in-law, CJ Sumner; grandchildren, Joshua and McKenzie McClure, Arron McClure, Noelle McClure, Alexandra Sumner, Cody Sumner; 2 brothers and 3 sisters, Weldon and sister-in-law Sandy Sumner, Bonnie Hannsmen, Kathy and Steve Haakenson, Arlen Sumner, Michelle Nelson.
Dale will be missed very much by all who knew him.
A memorial service will be held at Willamette National Cemetery on Friday, December 14 at 2:30pm. Please arrive by 2pm at main office at Willamette National Cemetery.
Celebration of Life will be held at the American Legion Post 1, Friday December 14 at 3:00pm.
