As a child she loved riding horses in the fields of the Minnehaha area. She lived her adult life in Portland, OR where she enjoyed dancing, gardening and was a very talented artist. She married her best friend and favorite dance partner Ernie Patti in May of 1989. She retired from the Main US Post Office in Downtown Portland.
Darlene is survived by her siblings Ron Middaugh and Linda Castino; her three daughters, Tammy Smith, Kim Whittaker, and Robin Barker, and her step children Jeff Patti, Jan Patti, Jill McAuley and Jole Sonders. She is loved and missed by her grandchildren; Jennifer Curtis, Dustin Perry, Jeremy Zeller, and Billy Zeller and great-grandchildren; Aiden & Riley Curtis and Jacob & Jodynn Lanning-Zeller. Her husband Ernest "Ernie" E. Patti passed away March 29, 2009.
As per Darlene’s wishes, there will be a service at the Gateway Little Chapel of Chimes.
