

David Maurice Larson, 89, a longtime resident of Portland went to be with the Lord on Friday, March 7, 2014. He died of natural causes. He was a resident of Marquis Autumn Hills Care Center in Portland. David was born on March 16, 1924 to Maurice C. and Marguerite P. Larson, in Minneapolis, MN. He graduated from Montgomery Blair High School in Silver Spring, MD, in 1942. David attended Bryan College in Dayton, TN, and received his Divinity degree from Western Baptist Seminary in Portland, in 1953. He was married to Myrtle L. Larson, of Glendale, S.C., in Washington, D.C., on December 20, 1950 Myrtle passed away in Portland in December 4, 1999. After graduating from seminary, David was ordained as a minister of the gospel in the Conservative Baptist Church, and served pastorates at churches in Suffern, NY, as well as Birkenfeld, Pilot Rock and Philomath, OR. After leaving the ministry in 1965, he worked as a mechanical draftsman for CH2M Hill in Corvallis, and the Oregon Health & Science University in Portland, from which he retired in 1986. During his life David was active in volunteer prison ministries, as well as the Providence Portland Medical Center in Portland. David married Martha M. Larson on Aug. 19, 2000, who now resides in Vancouver, WA, and is also survived by two sons, Stephen D. Larson, and wife Betty Jean of Dacula, GA, and Jonathan H. Larson of Portland, four grandchildren, Lt. Derek T. Larson, DO (wife Sarah), Marci M., Curtis E. and Paul D. Larson, and one great-grandchild, Gideon Derek Larson. A funeral service will be held at Ross Hollywood Chapel, 4733 NE Thompson in Portland, on Wednesday, March 12th, at 12:00 PM, followed by internment at Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery, 11801 SE Mt. Scott Blvd., Portland, at 3:00 PM.
