Dave is survived by his wife Barbara, daughter Sherry Dickie (Chris) and grandchildren Matthew and Alicia.
Dave was born on January 4, 1941 in Claremont, MN to Grace and Garroll Morris. He graduated from Clarement High School and went to work for Braniff Airlines where he was to meet his wife of 60 years, Barbara. After moving to Portland, OR Dave and Barb settled down in Maywood Park, OR to begin their family in this small, tight knit community. Dave was fun loving and generous man. He was always quick to make a joke to get others to laugh and smile. He was a hard worker who did everything he could to provide for his family. He was dedicated to having a wonderful lawn and home. The Maywood Park community was enhanced with the beautiful care he took with his yard.
Dave was an avid snowmobiler and golfer and truly enjoyed the outdoors. Camping and appreciating what nature had to offer was a particular joy for him. He shared this love the outdoors with his daughter and grandchildren. He was very kind and generous man to family, friends and those he didn’t know well. He and the unofficial “Maywood Park Brigade”- helped many of our older M.P. citizens when they needed a hand. He and his neighborhood buddies were always pulling off a practical joke on one or the other. Constant teasing and laughing were a daily occurrence in “our ‘hood”.
After working 40+ years in the airline industry Dave started driving school bus for Parkrose School District. Just like is older brother, Dale, who also “retired” and became a school bus driver in his twilight years. Dave really enjoyed this job working with kids. He was loved by both the staff and students he served.
A Celebration of Life will be scheduled for a later time this spring/summer. All are welcome to attend and celebrate David’s life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Humane Society of Oregon at Oregonhumane.org/donate. Condolences and memories can be left below.
