Donald Wallace Gathwright

Services to be held at Willamette National Cemetery.

Don was born October, 30, 1934, in Klamath Falls, Oregon to Wallace and Margaret (Schoenfield) Gathwright. He was the older of two boys. His brother, Lawrence Gathwright, preceded him in death in 2007.

Don lived in Klamath Falls, Portland, Vancouver and Tacoma WA. He graduated from Stadium High School, Tacoma, Washington in 1951. He then enrolled in Clark College for 1 year before enlisting in the Navy Oct, 1953. He served out of the U.S. Naval Amphibious Base, Coronado, CA. He served in the Korean War as well as the start of the Vietnam conflict. He received several medals and citations for his service.

Upon discharge from the Navy in Aug, 1957, he resumed his college education at Clark College, Vancouver, Washington followed by the University of Oregon, Eugene Oregon. He graduated in June, 1960, with a Bachelors of Business Administration.

Don worked as an accountant through college and continued that work for better than 60 years.

After graduation Don met and married Janet Adkisson on February, 24, 1962. They had four daughters, Donna Kellams, Debbie Gathwright-Banks, Dina Dedonato and Diane O’Neal and nine grandchildren.

Don liked to travel and enjoyed the Caribbean, Depoe Bay and Central Oregon. He also enjoyed reading and playing solitaire.

Don was hard working and loved to visit with all. His deep love of his family will live on in his children and grandchildren. He will join his grandson Trevor Gathwright-Banks who preceded him in Heaven.

Don is survived by his wife Janet and his 4 daughters and 8 grandchildren.
