I met Ed when he and Joyce began dating many years ago.  I was Joyce's best friend from 1956 until her death.  I have wonderful memories of Joyce.  When Ed came into the picture she was smitten and they had a wonderful marriage.

Ed's hobby was collecting stamps and he and Joyce taking photos of ghost towns around Oregon that, at one time, were prosperous, sending my husband pictures and articles of old cars.  He had scrapbooks of all this information that were valuable to collectors.

I am happy that he is now with Joyce.  Much love to them both.

I have many fond memories of Great Uncle Ed!  He always had a new joke to tell and wanted everyone to hear it!  I am so glad I will see him again someday in the greatest place of all!

Uncle Ed, you were so young at heart that it seemed like you'd never leave. When you reached the eternal city I'm sure others thought the same; they probably said, "Ed, what are you doing here? Is this one of your practical jokes?!" 

Hopefully we'll be able to catalog and share your writings. You had a gift and your efforts helped preserve history for the enjoyment and education of future generations. 

Among my possessions, thanks to Linda, is a handmade dress the love of your life wore as a baby. It's hard to believe you've both now completed your journeys here, but it's also good to know you're together again. 

I will now miss you both, but someday, after many more trips around the sun, we'll finally iron out the black horse incident, rehash the "shoes under the bed" story, and spill some coffee together (and blame someone else). Thank you for the liveliness and laugh out loud hilarity you brought to our posse. It says a lot that the last time you had me guffawing was at a funeral.

Uncle Ed,  I miss you SO much.  We were grocery shopping buddies for nine years since Aunt Joyce's passing.  You never knew a stranger.  You joked with cashiers and customers alike, and we loved your corny jokes.  You were such an adventurer, walking long distances and keeping busy with your hobbies.  You had such a generous heart.  I'll never forget how you threw a huge free steak dinner party for friends and family on your 75th birthday.  What a rich ninety years you gave us.  I look forward to seeing you again in heaven.

I first met Ed while working at the Post Office for a couple of years in the 1970's. I left the Post Office for college and other life adventures. Much to my surprise, after retiring a few years ago, I ran into him at our local coffee shop on Woodstock Blvd. Over many cups of coffee, I enjoyed talking with Ed about "the old days" and some of the Post Office characters from that era. I thoroughly enjoyed Ed's many photos of Oregon and his encyclopedic knowledge of this state.  I especially admired Ed for walking the muttiple mile distance to the coffee shop.  This is something I can't do and I'm just a young 67! He has been a real blessing to me and an inspiration to me in my own retirement. I will miss him. I'm sure he's now taking photos of a far more beautiful place. Perhaps I'll have the privilege of meeting him again in God's coffee shop?
