Edythe was a very sweet soft spoken person unless you tried to boss her around or do something she did not like then she was known to give you her opinion. I have known her as somewhat quiet and to herself unless we were going somewhere. She enjoyed going to the beach especially with the ladies from Calvary Christian Center ( the Bridge) when they would have a beach retreat she would make sure she was on the list for participants. I remember one of the times she went the party she was riding with stopped at a rest area to use the bathroom and they left thinking she was with them but she wasn’t she was left there and some teenagers that were there who had blue hair felt bad for her and gave her a ride to the beach location where we welcomed her with gratitude. She had no cell phone or way for us to check up on her. It didn’t seem to bother her much she was just glad to be back with the ladies were she belonged. There was also a time at the beach retreat she went down on the sand with all of us and got handed a kite to fly she loved it and was so tickled she got to be chosen to do that.
Now we will reflect on what some of her family remembered growing up with Edythe. Daniel and Darrold are twin brothers and she would dress them alike so she had a hard time telling them apart and would often get them mixed up and call them by the wrong name. She was so sweet she did not like to be the disciplinary parent so she would tell them there Dad would be the one to bust them. I remember going to visit her at her apartment when I was young and we would frequently watch Lawrence Welk which she loved the show I would stand in front of the tv and dance for her when they would play the theme song. She would just smile and laugh and think I was so cute. Then she would make me a real good grilled cheese sandwich I thought she was the best cook there was at the time besides my mom of course.
She loved to sing and I found out she got her start singing on a radio show in Baker where her and her sisters would sing weekly on the radio. Later it carried into the church choir and singing with her daughter Julie and I while attending The Bridge. I know she was very content and loved her church and family she really loved the lord so I know we will see her again someday in heaven where she is probably singing and dancing for the lord.
