Eileen Baumer
(March 19, 1927 - September 14, 2011)
Born March 19, 1927 in Kalispell, Montana, she was the youngest of six children. Her family moved to Oregon, and she graduated from Grant High School in Portland in 1945. One of the best days of her life was when she met Derald Baumer at the Sutter Lake, Oregon church camp. When he walked in the door she told her girlfriends “he’s mine.” They got married on May 1, 1948 at Rose City Park Methodist Church in Portland, Oregon. She passed away peacefully in her sleep at home, Wednesday morning, September 14th, with her husband by her side; she was ready to go home to heaven. Absent from the body present with the Lord. Her two daughters survive her: Kim Stuart of Portland, and Robin Hattan of Colton, Oregon. Eileen also was a proud grandmother to six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was a member of Tri-City Baptist Temple in Gladstone, Oregon for more than 30 years and enjoyed singing in the choir, participated in the Young at Heart Group, was a greeter at the door and always a help to anyone who needed it. After surviving breast cancer, she went on to counsel others through the process for The Cancer Society. She enjoyed camping, playing table games with all, a good movie, and loved being surrounded by her friends, family and extended family.
A Remembrance service for Eileen will be held Thursday, October 6th, 2011 at 5 pm at Tri-City Baptist Temple in Gladstone, Oregon.
Arrangements under the direction of Gateway Little Chapel of the Chimes, Portland, OR.
