

in Portland, Oregon. She was 96 years old. Anne was born in Pendleton, Oregon to Max and Isabelle Hopper. She, her parents, and her brother Robert lived in Athena, Oregon where her father was a banker. She fondly recalled long bike rides with her friends on back country farm roads.
The family moved to Portland when Anne was in high school. She graduated from Portland's Grant HS then attended U of O where she majored in music. She belonged to Delta Gamma sorority. An accomplished pianist, a highlight of her life was winning a contest to perform with the Portland Symphony. In 1953 she married Martin Olson whose sister, Ruth, belonged to the same piano studio. Anne was a teacher in the Portland Public Schools where she taught vocal music and, later, first and second grade. Among the schools where she taught were Faubion, Clark, Buckman, Beaumont, and Glencoe. She took a sabbatical year and earned a Master's Degree in Education from Columbia Teacher's College in New York. In retirement she took several trips to Great Britain. She particularly loved hearing organ concerts at St. Paul's Cathedral in London.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, and husband. She is survived by one son, Donald (Elizabeth), one granddaughter, Lucy (Thomas), one great grandson, Willam, and many beloved nieces and nephews. Remembrances can be contributed to the Oregon Symphony at orsymphony.org
