

Gladys Russell was born to the late Maggie and Hundley Williams in Homer, Louisanna on April 22, 1929. She was the eldest of 10 children. She attended Rosenwald Elementary School, and Hampton High school. She was joined in Holy Matrimony to Alvin Russell on July 28, 1945 and moved to Portland, Oregon shortly after their marriage.
Her Interests included fishing, camping, gardening, raising chinchillas, and stamp collecting. She was baptized and became a member of Allen Temple under the leadership of the late Reverend Strayhand . She was an active member on the Steward Board for many years and also became the Grand Matron of Eastern Star Chapter 285. Gladys was a very devout Christian woman who gave her all, without asking for anything in return.
She will be greatly missed and leaves to cherish her memory 5 Children; Barbara Drew, Dorothy Brown, Rosvin Russell, David Russell, and Carol Russell. Gladys was blessed with 10 Grandchildren, 17 Great Grand Children, and 2 great-great grandchildren. Preceded in death by husband; Alvin Russell Sr., son; Alvin Jr. Russell and her grandson’s Brian Mckinley and Derek Russell.
