Hannah Christine "Little Buffalo" Crawford came into this world in Panama City, Panama. She was instantly beloved by all and showed her affection by sprinting down church aisles, wearing adorable poofy dresses and charming everyone she met. As her family traveled around the United States in the military, she came to know people from all walks of life. In her time in Norfolk, Virginia she played field hockey, had two adorable dogs (Jax and Brandy), and was a cheerleader full of life. For many years her family lived in Virginia, then moved out west to Bainbridge Island, Washington. There she fell in love with the Pacific Northwest, a love that she would cherish all her life.
In the Northwest she hiked, rode horses, made close friends and came to adore the plants and animals of the world, staunchly declaring that the Salmon were her friends and no longer allowed on the menu. Later she moved to Baton Rouge, Louisiana with her family and played volleyball for Univ
High. Her after-school schedule was booked with many runs, laps, drills, and physical conditioning, as well as a fun filled social life with many girlfriends. Again her family transferred to the panhandle of Florida (30A) where she loved running on the beach, paddleboarding etc. She followed her brother to Oregon State University and attained not only a Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology, but lifelong friends and confidants.
OSU "Beavers!" was her home-away-from-home, and Oregon her homeland. She took on a life of service to others by working at Samaritan Hospital as a Physical Therapy Aide for her gap-year, and then moved down to Texas to be with her family after she was accepted at the University of St Augustine to study Physical Therapy. When the Covid-19 pandemic kicked off she continued her studies, but later yearned to return to the Northwest to study education and become an elementary school teacher. She was in her 4th week of student teaching first graders before her passing. The Children loved "Ms Hannah", and her name, and her love, is plastered on that 1st grade classroom's walls in her honor.
Our family will never be the same without our "Hannah Banana", "Lil Buffalo", but we are so happy that her soul is free to live without any constraints and we hope she is truly living it up in Heaven. Heaven just got another beautiful soul.
A vigil for Hannah will be held Friday, September 23, 2022 at 7:30 PM at Louiza - Event Space, 2808 NE Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. Suite B, Portland, Oregon 97212.
