Harold was born in Sheridan, Oregon to parents Harold Dewey and Freeda Florence (Mendenhall) Peterson. He was raised in Dallas, Oregon where he graduated from Dallas High School. He had the honor of being a cheerleader and student body secretary.
In 1938, Harold left Dallas to attend veternary college at Washington State University. However, blood poisoning led to a change in college and careers. Harold was proud to graduate from Oregon State University as a pharmacist He pledged to Sigma Phi Epsilon and maintained pride in his fraternity.
Harold met Jean through his best friend and neighbor, Frank Farris. He was 16 when they started going on double dates. Harold married Maxine and Frank married Jean in 1942. Both men went off to war in 1943. When they returned, the couples spent lots of time together and had families
Harold's pharmacy career took off. When he retired, he was Executive Vice President in charge of all drug departments for Fred Meyer.
Both spouses of Harold and Jean died, so they married each other on June 1, 1989. They lived on a ranch in Yoncalla, Oregon. In 1999, they moved to the Bethany area to be near family.
Harold and Jean enjoyed many years of traveling. They had a timeshare in Hawaii, and a place at Rockaway Beach along the Oregon Coast. Harold also belonged to the Lion's Club, Elks Club, and the American Legion. His favorite was participating in the Righteous Brothers and Sunset Presbyterian.
When Harold and Jean married, they prayed for 10 good years together. In June of 2014, they celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary. They have been a blessing to family and friends. We are thankful for all of Harold's 94 years. He died peacfully on April 7th, 2015.
