Horst Anton Holzner

Horst A. Holzner, of Portland, Oregon, passed away on September 2, 2024, at the age of 88. Born on January 21, 1936, in Piding, Germany, Horst was the cherished son of Adalbert and Luise Holzner. He grew up in Siegsdorf, Germany, where he would eventually meet and marry the love of his life, Larissa, on March 9, 1957. Their love story, which began in kindergarten, blossomed into a 67-year union of unwavering devotion and partnership.

Horst’s journey took him from the quaint towns of Germany to the bustling landscapes of the United States, where he and Larissa emigrated in 1959, becoming American citizens. His career as an electrician spanned across two countries. His work was a testament to his talent, and integrity.

A man of faith and commitment, Horst was devoted to Christ, his family, and his community. He was an active member of Eastgate Bible Church and Eagle Fern Camp. Horst was a proud member of IBEW Local 48, contributing his talents to both his craft and community.

In his younger years, Horst enjoyed Judo and soccer, and his passion for the outdoors was evident in his love for working in his yard. His hardworking and dependable nature, combined with his compassion, honesty, and generosity, defined his life. As a talented builder and creator, Horst excelled in everything he undertook.

Horst's legacy will be remembered through his unwavering dedication to his family as a loving husband, protector, and provider. He is survived by his devoted wife, Larissa Holzner, his daughter Susanne Wright and her husband Chris; his son Richard Holzner and his wife Christy; his grandsons Jesse Wright and his wife Katie, and Michael Wright and his wife Susanna; his granddaughters Larissa "Rissie" Anderson and Kristin Holzner; and his great-grandchildren Ghost "Madeline" Anderson, Hans Wright, Rowan Wright, Jonah Wright, Avery Wright, Maya Nauat-Holzner, and Diego Nauat-Holzner.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Horst’s name to Eastgate Bible Chapel.
