Ida Bernice Strickland

On December 26, 2020 Ida Bernice Strickland passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by family. Ida was born in Portland, OR on April 24, 1926 to Tom and Ida Johnson. She was one of nine children born into a loving Norwegian family.

Ida graduated from Washington High School. She married Robert (Bob) Strickland on September 14, 1946. Ida was a professional bookkeeper for over 60 years, retiring at the age of 85.

She is survived by her three children: Susan (Jerry) Teeter, David (Becky) Strickland, Robert (Linda) Strickland, ten grandchildren, twenty-seven great-grandchildren, three sisters: Charlotte, Barbara, and Beachie, AND her Faithful Caregivers: Tracey Moore and Blanca Skaggs.

Preceding Ida in death was her husband Robert and Granddaughter Karin Strickland.

Ida is remembered for her strong Christian faith, kindness, and service to others. She valued her many relationships and was a prayer warrior for all.

Ida will also be remembered for her love of cooking, entertaining and serving guests in her home. Over her lifetime she was a dedicated member of Ladds Evangelical Church, Lake Grove Christian Church, and Good Shepherd Community Church, where she nurtured many friendships.

Ida's love of music, bible study and spending time with her family and friends were her Greatest Joys. She adored her grandchildren and was happiest when they brought her a new baby to love. Ida's great-grandchildren will always cherish the time spent sitting on grandma's lap, tight bear hugs and back rubs, reading stories together, singing and just talking. A highlight for Ida was attending her annual Johnson Family Reunion (Campout) at Big Lake, Washington. For 30 years she could be seen loving all the children, serving coffee and cookies to those visiting her camp, making lefse for over 100 people, and singing in the family choir. Her infectious laugh was contagious and loved by all.
