Ione Malfo was born on March 15, 1921 in Parkerton, Wyoming. She passed away on May 8, 2019 in Portland, Oregon. During her lifetime, Ione lived in several different places, including: Kermit, Texas, Oklahoma and Idaho. After some time in Portland, the family suffered some hardship during the Vanport Floods. After this, Ione moved her family and they lived in California for some time.
Ione raised three girls on her own, sometimes holding up to three jobs in order to support her family. This love of family continued throughout her life and despite her many other interests, nothing came in the way of her love for her family.
She loved to travel, with some of her most notable trips being to Costa Rica and to Disneyland with her family. Ione went on a cruise with some of her friends, which she enjoyed and remembered fondly for years. Ione loved antiques, even opening her own antique store in SE Portland with her husband, Nicky, whom she met at an antique show.
Ione was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, working her way through many chairs, all the way to the top. Along with her daughter, Jan, Ione was a member of the Divine Divas branch of the Red Hat Society. She was also a member of the American Business Women’s Association.
She was known for her meticulous sense of style, as she was always dressed to the nines, large hat and all! Ione was a beautiful woman who always made sure that her hair and makeup looked perfect. For some time, Ione shared this beauty with the world in her work as a Mary Kay consultant.
Ione was preceded in death by her parents: John and Edna Parr; her brother, John Parr Jr.; her daughter, Cheryl Johnson; her son-in-law, Dwight Becraft; and her husband, Nicky Malfo. She is survived by her daughters: Janette Becraft and Michele Rutledge; grandchildren: Tod Allen Becraft, Kim Becraft Finlay, Shauna Hanyen, John Fucciolo, and Lee Johnston; and great-grandchildren: Anthony Allen Becraft, Samantha Hanyen and Sydney Fucciolo.
A funeral service will be held for Ione at 12pm on Wednesday, May 22nd at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home. A reception will follow.
