He lived in N.E. Portland in his early life and attended St. Charles Catholic grade school with his sister Barbara. While at St. Charles he was not only a catholic mass altar boy, he was active in three sports: football, basketball and baseball. He had a paper route where he delivered The Oregonian newspaper to his local community.
After grade school he attended Jefferson High School where he excelled as a two-sport athlete in football and track.
After high school he attended Portland Community College and graduated from Portland State University with a four-year B.S. degree.
He became a grade school teacher shortly after graduating from PSU.
He married Thomea Kampras in December 1985 who already had a son Neal A. Corl. Thomea passed away in 1998.
He worked 43 years for a roofing company (Owens Corning Fiberglass Co. in N.W. Portland) where he was the laboratory supervisor and analyst. He traveled many times to China and all over the United States as part of his duties as laboratory supervisor and analyst.
He is survived by his step-son Neal A. Corl, two brothers John and Bob and a sister Barbara, many cousins and many many friends. His oldest brother Edward B. Aust passed away in 2015.
There will be a private family burial and at a later date there will be a memorial for Jim where friends and family can attend to honor his life.
