Jerry graduated from Beaverton High School in 1953. In 1957 Jerry married his high school sweetheart, Barbara, and they were blessed with 48 years of marriage, three sons, eight grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Barbara passed away in January of 2006.
Jerry worked for IBM before taking a job in data processing with the State of Oregon at PERS. He was known for his tell-it-like-it-is conversations and was admired for his sense of humor and sense of what’s right. Jerry retired from the State of Oregon in 1996.
In 1987 Jerry and Barbara began collecting Peanuts memorabilia, eventually amassing a collection of over 10,000 items, and enjoyed travelling to attend Beaglefest Conventions. Jerry was an avid golfer, on a daily basis for a time. He also enjoyed morning coffee, often followed by a round of golf, with his best friend, Gary.
He was an awesome husband, father, grandfather, friend, and all around good guy, devoted to his family. Jerry had a nickname for everyone and his dry sense of humor will be missed.
Jerry passed away in Hillsboro with family at his side. He will be missed by his sons, Ken(Maggie), Steve (Cindy), and Dave (Jessica); his eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Jerry will be privately laid to rest in Skyline Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Kaiser Hospice.
