John is predeceased by his father Ernest C. "Bill" Long, and mother Lois Adair Long.
He is survived by his longtime companion Patricia L. Gilbert, son Kevin E. Long, daughter Kay J. Long, grandson Tristan W. Long-Richards, granddaughter, Avalon R. Long Richards.
A graveside service will be held September 8, 2016 at 1:00pm at Willamette National Cemetery - 11800 SE Mt. Scott Blvd, Portland, Oregon 97086.
