Thinking of John with great fondness. Praying for Margaret and the Verna family. May the Lord comfort you on the anniversary of John's passing.

Just thinking about you and remembering all the good times you, Margaret, Jim and I had. You were a special man who we will never forget.

   We just wanted to wish you a Happy 74th Birthday today. We all love and miss you so very much. Can't believe it's already been a year. just to let you know. That you will be forever in our hearts. Happy Birthday Dad/Papa John.

I first met John in the late 1980's on a job site. I was his apprentice, and sometimes the job site apprentice on his projects. He was a very kind and smart man. John shared the same life long technical hobby as I did. He was my go-to technical advisor within the hobby. I did not get to see John as much as I'd like to after immigrating overseas, but made every effort to stop by La Verne when flying into Los Angeles. I will deeply miss you John. Seems just like yesterday when John and Peggy met, their instant attraction and obvious love at first sight was evident to all.  As the family babysitter (and favorite niece), I had the opportunity to watch their love blossom and commitment to one another grow stronger everyday.  I have a rather humorous memory of John and Peggy taking all of us (Debra, Billy and Lisa, Cathy and Cindy, Mary, Joan, Bill and me to the beach). How they crammed the 9 of us into two very small cars (one VW bug driven by Peggy and the other Nissan (I think) driven by John) will forever defy the laws of physics, but they figured a beach trip is what we needed so they made it happen. One child, name intentionally concealed to protect the innocent, released the silent but deadly the entire trip back, but John took it with good humor and just laughed about what we all believed was a terminal case of the farts. Thanks for the laughs and including me in the family.  John will be missed, but his humor, compassion, and memory will live on. Love Janet Wittenbraker 

John and I worked together for many years. I will always remember him and the great friend that he was. There are so many stories I could tell about the team of John and John working together, we had great times together and our families had fun at all the parties in Laverne. Our condolences to the Verna family. Please know that our prayers are with you and your family and that you are Loved.



John was a sweet caring man.  Didn’t get to see him often enough, but when we did it always blessed my life.  My cousin John took special care of his aunt and uncle (my parents).  He and Margaret were always there for them and that will never be forgotten.  John had a quiet way about him, deep thinker,  didn’t talk bad about others, and so kind.  I will miss my dear cousin and will see him again one day.  Love, Janice❣️

I have so many wonderful memories of my father. Trying to pick just one is difficult task. My father was always a hardworking man.  I remember that he would bring home souvenirs from a job he did or showed us what buildings he worked on (places like the Disney channel or Warner brothers studios). I remember a time, where I would lay on his bed and listen to him play on his guitar. He would always play Hotel California. To this day every time I hear that song, I think of that special memory of him. I also remember going to one of his company picnics. I would have lots of fun playing carnival games, going on rides and eating likes of goodies, while my parents played Bingo. He's also been there to walk me down the aisle at my wedding and was there for the birth of my two children (Liam & Scarlett). My father was a very loving, funny and caring person. I will always love & miss him very much and he will forever have a special place in my heart. 
  

I will always love & miss Papa John. My fondest memory of him was when he would take me and my big brother to play and eat at Mcdonald's. I also remember helping him clean up his office and he would supervise me when I used the paper shredder. He always made me feel loved and he would always make me laugh from all his silliness. I even loved his hugs and taken afternoon naps while my mom was at work. I would like to send all my hug & kisses to wherever he is and that he will always have a special place in my heart. Papa John was a funny, loving and the sweetest Grandpa. I will always remember the time we would watch battle bots and we would both pick who would win the fight or eating big tubs of butter popcorn while watching a movie on his bed. I also thought it was very silly of him every time I would give him a high five, he would say "Smokin" and act like his hand was on fire. There was also a time where I would watch him play his guitar and then he would teach me how to play. I will always love and miss him with all of my heart.

Thinking of the Verna Family and sending our thoughts and prayers. I wanted to share a memory that I have of John, he would let Carrie and I hang out in his computer room. We would play games on the computer and he would just be there with no judgement and talk with us. I always felt welcome and he will surely be missed. 

What can I say but that John was such a nice man.  We had so many wonderful memories of parties in LaVerne and many dinners out.   We are  so sorry for Margaret and the Verna family.  But so thankful that they had him for so long after his kidney transplant.  God worked a miracle for 21 years.  I'm so sure that Joann was standing at the gates to Heaven welcoming him home.   Our prayers and love to all of you.
