Jonathan Andrew Zeuske was taken from us suddenly and unexpectedly; passing in his sleep on July 26, 2012 while attending summer classes at the University of Central Florida. Jon was born on September 14, 1991 in Seattle, WA and lived in Cave Creek, AZ; Atlanta, GA; Issaquah, WA; and Coto de Caza, CA; before spending the last five years of his life in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL.
Jon’s life was way too short. In life, Jon was intelligent, genuine, respectful, giving, and charismatic; always lifting the spirits and giving strength to those around him. Jon was an “old soul” and truly understood the world around him and his place in that world. To his family he is Jon and to his many, many friends he is “Zeus”, a born leader dedicated to his family and friends. In his passing, he leaves many friends and family members who were blessed to know him and are better people today having been close to him.
Jon was active in sports and was happiest when he was a teammate. He was passionate about golf during his teen years, spending hours on the range and on the course with his close friends in Southern California and Florida. Jon, true to his character, always favored team play over individual tournaments. In the past few years he enjoyed basketball and cycling. He graduated cum laude as part of the first graduating class of Ponte Vedra High School and was heading into his junior year at the University of Central Florida, maintaining a spot on the Dean’s list while majoring in Business Administration. Driven to succeed, Jon was still charting a course for his life and was planning on gaining some additional work experience before pursuing a master’s degree.
Jon is survived by his loving parents, David and Tracy Zeuske, and sister Natalie of Ponte Vedra Beach; brother David of La Quinta, CA; Paternal Grandparents Vern and Barbara Zeuske of West Linn, OR; Maternal Grandparents Alan and Gloria Sinning of Mt. Lebanon, PA; Maternal Great Grandmother Mathilda Maust of Milwaukee, OR; Aunt Wendy Dale of Mt. Lebanon, PA; Aunt Kelly Sinning of Charleston, SC; and Uncle Mark Sinning of Mt. Lebanon, PA.
Donations in Jon’s memory can be made to the American Heart Association.
Funeral Services are being held at 1:00 pm on Friday, August 3 at Skyline Memorial Gardens, 4101 Northwest Skyline Boulevard, Portland, OR 97229. A Memorial Service is planned in Ponte Vedra Beach at the Plantation Beach Club, 1111 Ponte Vedra Beach Boulevard South (additional parking available at Mickler’s Landing with access to the Club from the beach) on Monday, August 6 at 6:00 pm.
