Jose Adame Garcia

In 1927, José Adamé Luis Felipé Rey Mendoza Mares was born. He grew up in Guanajuato, Mexico. In his early 20's on April 22nd he Married The Love of his Life Maria (Aquilina) Morales Silva. They had nine children: José Luis, Maria Guadalupe, Lino, Mauro, Cesilia, Francisco, Alejandro, Leticia, and Elvira. To improve the future of his family he moved North, to the United States of America, and changed his name to José A. Garcia. He chose Oregon as his home, and little by little was able to bring his family to the United States.

José was a very hard worker, and enjoyed the beauty of Oregon. He loved big classic cars and trucks (station wagons, his Ford International, Chevy Pickup, and his Cadillac are some of the few). He loved singing, playing the guitar, keyboard, and accordion. He loved his classic country music Willie Nelson, Dolly Parton, Loretta Lynn, and Barbara Mandrell were a few. Most of all he loved his family get togethers which were almost every weekend (Food, Music, Dancing, and shooting pool).

His grandchildren were his gold! He took us everywhere he could from weekend grocery shopping, to the laundromat, parks, the Sandy River, and Multnomah Falls. He spoiled us with love, and always gave quarters for video games. When shopping he always bought treats for us. He hated if any of us cried. He used to have a saying that he made up before picking us up and comforting us "Calambia Yoongy, que paso, ven" He loved making us laugh with his big mustache, and making cat noises. He taught us many things in life, but My fondest memory was when he would roast corn kernels from the garden on the woodstove. Jose was the Patriarch of the family, and if things ever got tough he had a stern side when needed. Many of us benefited from living with him. He always had an open door, and was a great listener.

In August 1992 José and Maria renewed their vows. They decided to retire in Tijuana, Mexico where he built their home. They lived there happily with many visits from family until Maria became ill. They returned to Oregon and he cared for her until her passing. He soon returned to Tijuana, Mexico until early this year when he fell ill. He stayed in Los Angeles with family until his passing on August 31st.

His family grew to include many Great-Great Grandchildren. His memory will live on through all of our memories. May he Rest in Glory.
