Joshua Wade Rice

Joshua Wade Rice was born June 21st, 1982 in Portland, Oregon. He attended private school and later worked in the family business. Josh was training to be a peer support specialist, but he always made time to care for his family. He cared for his grandmother before she passed, then his mother, and then after her passing he cared for his father. His capacity for thoughtfulness and empathy were unsurpassed. He was a tireless advocate for the marginalized, the suffering, and the ignored. He was self-taught in a variety of disciplines, and was working on patenting a device with various medical applications.

He knew how to focus on the important things and always gave great advice. Like his mother, he enjoyed the ocean. He enjoyed games for good company more than the competition. Josh was fair, kind, and strong. He liked theatre. He enjoyed old stories, old movies, old music. He was timeless. He passed away April 15th, 2025.

Josh is survived by his father, his brother, his family and his friends.

A funeral service to honor Josh’s life will be held on Saturday, May 3rd at 10:00 a.m. at Zeller Chapel of the Roses, followed by a graveside service at Finley Sunset Hills Memorial Park at 12:00 p.m.
