

Kenneth (Bill) Hartman, was born on July 2, 1923 in Washington, D.C. (Bill was almost a firecracker baby). He was born to Floyd and Pauline Hartman. Bill's father (who looked like Colonel Sanders from KFC) worked for Washington and Maryland Transit Company for 40 years. Bill's mother Pauline was a nurse.
Bill graduated from Eastern High School in Washington, D.C. In 1941. From that time until he joined
the Army Engineers in 1944 Bill worked for the D.C. Highway Department and the Department of Commerce. While in the Army Bill spent one year in Virginia, one year in North Africa and one year in the Pacific. Bill rose from Private to First Sargent. Bill also spent eleven years as First Sargent in the Army Reserves.
From 1948 until 1959 Bill worked as a Budget Analyst for the Department of Commerce. He graduated with accounting honors from Benjamin Franklin University in 1959. Bill worked for the Federal Aviation Administration as their Budget Officer for the Systems & Research Development Service from 1959 until he retired on disability in 1973.
In 1977, while living in Norman, OK., Bill started a long career as a Nursing Home Chaplain. Bill spoke and held Bible classes at Nursing Homes, Senior Centers, Retirement and Foster Care Homes. As well as many churches and the Salvation Army. He loved speaking at Christian Businesses and enjoyed visiting shut-ins and hospital patients.
In 1980 on at trip to Cairo, Egypt to visit the Holy Land Bill met Dorothylee, they fell in love and were married June of 1982 in Portland, Oregon at Good Shepard Lutheran Church. They enjoyed a full and happy marriage until Lee's death in 2011.
For fifteen years Bill gave away over 16,000 gospel tracks and has given or mailed well over 15,000 gospel calenders to people all over the United States.
Our dear Lord and Savior called Bill Home on Monday, May 1, 2012 at the age of 88 years.
Bill is survived by his daughter, Kathie Haragan, three grandchildren, Edward McCorkle, Timothy McCorkle and Shawn McCorkle. He also has four great-grandchildren: Hope, Ryan, Sydney and Shawn, Jr..
We are confident in the knowledge that Bill rests peacefully in the arms of our precious Savior and Lord that he so faithfully devoted his life to serving. And so we say to our dear Dad and Grandfather, “Until we meet again in heaven, You Will Be Missed!”
