She was the third oldest of seven children, and you can imagine the chaos of that household. However, despite the chaos, love and friendship between siblings blossomed. An unbreakable bond even in death.
In September of 1996, she had her first daughter, Alyssa. They say it takes a village, and a village it took to raise that little girl. Koy’s siblings, parents and friends stepped up to help out. Koy learned a lot about motherhood quickly and it was all to prepare her for her next two daughters, Kendall and Paige.
Koy was a glass-half-full thinker and it showed in the way she lived her life. She had a gravitating energy about her. She was a great listener who heard beyond words, a friend who could brighten your darkest day, a confidant who kept your trust, and a supporter who celebrated your victories alongside you. She had a way of lifting your spirits and never making you feel small, even in your mistakes and only understood. Her partner, Leonis, would wholeheartedly agree with this sentiment.
In her life on earth, Koy was many things—a daughter, sister, annies (aunt), friend, mentor, partner, and mother. She was funny, kind-hearted, hardworking, and wise. Those four adjectives don’t hold a candle to the positive impact she had in every person’s life who she met.
Koy is survived by her daughters, Alyssa, Kendall, and Paige, her partner, Leonis, her mother, Mong Liem, her siblings, Mey, Gow, Nai, Farm, Feuy, and Mahn, and many loved nieces and nephews. Koy is preceded in death by her father, Esio, and her grandparents Choe Sieng and Saeng Kouang.
May she rest easy with Luna, Izzy, Chloe and Maui. 🐾
