Larry and his family moved to Portland, OR when he was a youth, and he was a graduate of Cleveland High School in Portland. He joined the US Navy and served honorably during Vietnam. Returning to the Portland area, he worked as a truck driver for many years. As a younger man, being in the outdoors (including fishing, water skiing, and other activities) was important to him, and throughout his life, he always looked forward to yearly trips to the coast. Among his other interests were collecting coins and collecting movies on DVD and CDs of his favorite music.
In 2007, he married Anita Fryman in Oregon City, OR, and they were married until his passing.
Mr. Cummins is preceded in death by a brother, Bob Cummins. He is survived by his wife Anita; by a son, Christopher Cummins, Larry's grandsons Sebastian and Jayden; and by a sister, Wendy Guy.
A committal service with US Navy honors will take place at Willamette National Cemetery, 11800 SE Mt. Scott Blvd. in Portland on Tuesday, March 25, 2025 at 1:00 pm.
