In 1972, he met Patricia Knauss through a mutual friend and soon realized he had found his home here with her in Milwaukie, Oregon. They married in June of 1973 and enjoyed 43 years together. With his job as a long distance truck driver, they would frequently take trips together for weeks at a time. Later he worked in several other trucking related occupations closer to home. Larry was a big fan of cars, airplanes, Italian food and his new family, especially his grandchildren. Hardly a basketball, baseball or soccer game went by without him showing up to watch them play. He loved driving and the kids could most always count on him for an “emergency” ride to a game or a trip to McDonald’s. He always had a pocket full of pens and a joke waiting to be told. Larry passed away on July 14th due to complications of Parkinson’s Disease. Our thanks to the staff at Brookdale Senior Living in Sellwood for their loving care. Larry is survived by his wife, Pat, brothers Jimmy, Michael and Patrick, sisters Mary Lynn and Bridget, 2 stepsons: Jay and Eric Knauss, 4 grandchildren: Nick, Jamie, Garret and Shelby and 1 great grandson Max. A celebration of life will be held at Oak Hills Presbyterian Church in Milwaukie, of which he was a member, on Saturday, August 27th at 11:00. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the church.
