When he was four years old, Lee moved with his family and his stepsister, Pauline Dorothy Schneider, to a homestead on Hunters Lane; now called 132nd Ave. in Happy Valley.
Lee was active in FFA and the Grange from a very early age. He attended Milwaukie High School, and upon graduating, was drafted into the Army as part of the Korean Conflict. He spent his basic training in Fort Sam Houston in Texas, and some time at Fort Lewis. During one of his furloughs home, he met his future wife, Patricia Schneider. He spent the Korean Conflict in Puerto Rico as a chauffeur for a senior officer, and mustered out as a Private First Class. He said his time spent in the military was largely uneventful.
Following his time in the service, he used the G.I. Bill to attend Walla Walla College in College Place, Washington.
In 1959, he and Patricia got married. On January 17, 1967, Lee and Patricia gave birth to their son, Matthew. On August 7, 1970, their daughter, Twyla, was born.
Active in the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, Lee helped charter Hood View SDA Church, Rockwood SDA Church, and finally was able to help charter Pleasant Valley SDA church close enough to home that he stayed there until his death.
Lee was a fleet manager for UML/ICN Medical Laboratories in Portland, Oregon in the 70s and 80s. Later, he worked as a test driver for Hyster Corporation, transitioning to test mechanic, before eventually retiring.
Lee moved his family from the home in Clackamas to a new home in Boring, Oregon. There, he became involved with local community boosters.
In 2022, he became unable to take care of himself at home. His wife, Patricia, was already living in an assisted living community, so he joined here there.
Lee died in his sleep on August 25, 2023 at Brookdale Senior Living in Troutdale, Oregon.
