Leonie Lea Everett, born October 3, 1916 in Vienna, Austria, passed on to her great reward at 10:25 PM the 22nd of July 2017. Devoted, beautiful wife to the late Dr. Frank G. Everett, M.D., D.M.D., M.S., Leonie was a wonderful cook in the Viennese tradition, an adventurous traveler, a lover of classical music, painting and sculpture, but above all a steadfast and kind friend to her friends and an even more loving mother to her children and grandchildren. Leonie and Frank ventured forth from Austria in the late 1930’s and were passengers on the last voyage open to the public of the Queen Mary. Landing in New York City, Frank visited several major cities before lighting on Portland at a beautiful time of year and deciding what a pristine, fresh start Portland would be both to him and his bride. Twice a month at their house they had chamber music with Frank playing the viola and Leonie preparing the most delicious pastries for the musicians and guests. She also assisted Frank in his dental practice later in Frank’s life. After Frank died, Leonie became a docent at the Portland Art Museum, and aquatics participant at the Multnomah Club, and a subscription member of Chamber Music Northwest. Words cannot describe her indomitable spirit, her kindness, her understatedness, her grace and her love. She did her journey beautifully and will be missed every day by her friends and family, but now is her time to celebrate her passing into the arms of her Savior. She leaves behind her children, Suzanne Diane King, Tom Everett, and Joan Knapp Adams (Gary); grandchildren, Jocelyn Rose Everett, Michael Knapp, and Lisa Hilty; and great grandchildren, Sophia and Simone Sienkiewicz. God bless you always Leonie! The family would like to give a special thanks to the caregivers at Caring Heart and the Providence Hospice Team.
