Madeline Cayla Conley, 29, of Portland, Ore., passed away on Sept. 10, 2024, due to complications from Crohn's disease. Born on March 1, 1995, Madeline's life was a beautiful blend of creativity, curiosity, and kindness.
Raised in the Laurelhurst neighborhood, she was the loving daughter of Alice Conley and Kevin Conley (Jennifer Harris). Madeline's education began at All Saints Grade School and continued at St. Mary's Academy High School, where her passion for learning blossomed. She attended Evergreen College in Olympia, Wash., embracing her creative spirit and adventurous mind.
Growing up with 13 boy cousins and four girl cousins, Madeline learned to hold her ground and developed a fierce independence. She was a protective big sister, always looking out for her brothers, and cherished the tradition of Sunday dinners filled with laughter.
A creative soul, Madeline expressed herself through embroidery, jewelry making, and various arts and crafts. Her love for nature was profound; she had a deep respect for all living things and could never harm a spider. Her greatest fondness was for the 15-year-old family dog, Harley, who passed just three days before her. Madeline's spiritual nature and inquisitive mind led her to explore health and wellness, always seeking new ways to live a vibrant healthy life. She was known for her thoughtful gifts, often arriving with small presents for friends and family. Madeline always gave more than she received. She had a keen sense of style and a love of reading stories that sparked her imagination and interests. Her intellect, wisdom, and silliness brought joy to those around her, especially during playful moments with her brothers.
Madeline is survived by her devoted brothers, Nolan and Michael; along with a large extended family that includes cousins, Max and Sam Malany; Joe, Tony, Gus, and Dominic Gianotti; Kyle, Lauren, and Sophie Mobley; Jessica, Tolan, and Seth Conley; Peter, Cayla, and Andrew Reisenauer; and Dillon and Erin Braich. She is also survived by her aunts and uncles, Nellie (Steve) Malany, Kristina (Tom) Gianotti, Mary (Brian) Mobley, Michael (Rosie) Conley, Cathleen (David) Reisenauer, Liz (David) Braich; and her loving boyfriend, Wes Hansen.
A celebration of her life was held at 3 p.m., Friday, Sept. 27, 2024 at Unity Spiritual Center, 4525 SE Stark St, Portland, Ore.. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to organizations supporting Crohn's disease research, or the Oregon Humane Society.
