Margie Burks was born to Brisco Morgan and Charlie Bell Morgan on January 5th, 1935 in Paris, Texas. She was the fourth eldest of 10 children- nine sisters and one brother. She is survived by two sisters Lilian Brewster of Portland, Oregon and Mildred James of Vancouver, Washington.
As a young woman, Margie worked as a caretaker, helping those with disabilities in Los Angeles, California. She was the kitchen manager of a restaurant and managed an apartment complex in Portland, Oregon. In addition, she worked as a food services supervisor at a local college in Washington. But it didn’t stop there, Margie had a spirit of entrepreneurship and she owned and operated her very own restaurant in Mississippi.
Margie gave her life to Christ at an early age. Her dedication to the Lord was evident in her commitment to Mallory. Every Sunday you would see her sitting in the front praising God. She cared for and loved her church family and would give all that she could to anyone in need. She knew that God had called her to serve, and she was an avid follower of Christ.
Margie leaves to mourn four children- Rozell Morgan of Portland, OR; Wallace Hale of Portland, OR; Roney Hale of Phoenix, AZ; and Debra Hale of Los Angeles, CA. She also leaves to mourn a Step-son Darryl Fields of Las Vegas, NV. She is preceded in death by her husband Harvey Burks, two children Baby Ray Morgan of Sherman, TX, Linda Drinker of Phoenix, AZ and one step daughter Judy Fields of Seattle, WA. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
She was truly a Gift from God who is finally home. Although her work on earth is done her life in heaven has just begun.
