Marguerite Fern Ingle

Marguerite was born on November 28, 1921, in Milford, Kansas to her parents Clifford and Letha (Babb) Harris. She attended Nurse’s Training at Christ’s Hospital, graduating in about 1940. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health Nursing in 1951, from the University of Oregon, and a Master’s in Education from Portland State University in the early 1970’s.

Marguerite married Earl Burton Ingle in the early 1940’s in Kansas. They were married until his death in 1968. She was a beloved mother and had two beautiful

children, Sharron Margaret, and Earl Burton, Jr. She moved from Kansas to Oregon in 1944 to raise her family and work for the Willamette Iron and Steel shipyards and then the Veteran’s Administration. At the time of her retirement in

1988, she was Associate Chief of Nursing Education.

In the 1980’s, Marguerite moved to the Oregon coast and, with her son Earl, ran a store in Lincoln City for many years. Her home was on Devil’s Lake and she

loved to sit in her sunroom and watch the ducks and birds over the lake, especially at sunset.

Marguerite loved spending time with her family, painting, ceramics, knitting and working with all kinds of plants and flowers. For many years, she was an active

member, including Chair, of the Oregon Fuchsia Society. She attended Catholic Churches in Portland and Lincoln City for many years; her Last Rites were given by the kindly priest at St. Therese in northeast Portland. She was deeply loved by those she knew and will be greatly missed.

Marguerite was preceded in death by her parents, and by her two sisters, Betty and Patricia, as well as her brother Clifford. She is survived by her daughter Sharron, her son Earl (Molly), their two children, Earl Burton Ingle III and Sean, as well as three great-grandchildren: Allison, Earl IV and William.

A Private Memorial Service in Marguerite’s Honor will be held on Saturday, September 10, 2016, at 3:00 pm at Skyline Memorial Chapel.
