Mark Robert Brisack was born in Portland, OR on August 29, 1952. He grew up in the Buckman neighborhood, where he formed family bonds and lifelong friendships. He was in theatre and played the French horn before graduating from Washington High School. He was a loving son, a caring brother, a proud uncle, and a loyal friend. His kind-hearted spirit, mischievous smile, and goofy jokes will be missed by those who knew him.
Mark enjoyed outdoor concerts, going out dancing, attending sporting events, having game nights, and enjoyed listening to a wide range of music. He had a huge collection of 45 rpm records and did a great impression of Dick Clark from American Bandstand. He loved big family dinners when everyone got together and weekly dinners on Sundays with just the boys. Family, and his Labrador Duke, meant the world to him.
Mark was a huge basketball fan and followed the Portland Trailblazers with a passion. RIP City! He loved all sports, attending any game he could, but basketball was always his favorite. He even played on a city league adult basketball team into his late 40’s.
Mark got his first job, a newspaper route, at 10 years old. As an adult, he worked at Mail-Well Inc. as a Cutterman, in charge of large envelope-making machines, for 28 years. In 2003 he took over his dad’s company, I’ve Been Framed- a local picture frame shop and art supply store. He spent 17 years as a small business owner before retiring. During those years, he loved getting out to see his customer’s and employee’s art shows, going to gallery openings, and connecting with the community of artists the company served.
He was a member of the Street Magic Car Club and loved vintage automobiles. He proudly owned 48 cars in his lifetime and had several classics at one point. He could often be found down at the car lots on 82nd - just to see what was available on the strip. His love of a good deal was evident in many areas of his life and work, but the ones found on car lots were a thrill.
He was an avid bicycle rider and toured for years with The Portland Wheelman Touring Club, later known as The Portland Bicycling Club. He volunteered fixing bikes for children and was always looking out for the cycling community around him. He helped with repairs, flat tires, or finding a used bike that was affordable for someone in need. He would often buy a used bike to fix up, then give it away to someone who was interested in cycling.
He loved being outdoors and couldn’t get enough of it. He enjoyed camping, hiking, and trips out into nature. He loved the family trips to Sunriver, the annual cycling club campouts, visiting family on the coast, cycling to the gorge, visiting the San Juans, and went on several cruises. He was always up for a new adventure. He loved the fresh pine air, the wind and sun on his back, and to be on his bike riding through it all.
Mark passed away on December 25, 2025, at the age of 73. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Theron Brisack and Barbara Ann Brisack. He is survived by siblings Karen Brisack Volker-McNamara, Janet Brisack Blomdahl, Jerry Brisack and Becky Brisack. In honor of Mark’s wishes, there will be no service held.
