

Mark Allen Hoyt, age 57, of Portland passed away Saturday, May 30, 2020 at home. Mark was born January 16, 1963 to Carl and Rose (Linder) Hoyt in Chicopee Falls, Massachusetts. He attended several schools throughout his childhood as his family moved around the US to follow his Father’s military career until they eventually settled in Hillsboro, Oregon.
Mark married his first wife, Kim in 1986 and became her children’s father. A son, Skyler, was born in 1987 in Portland. They lived throughout the Northwest, including Alaska until they were divorced and Mark returned to the Portland area. In 1999, he met his soul mate, Deborah (Kampert, Schooler) and they were married in 2001. Mark joyously accepted the role of Father to Debbie’s daughters. For a few years they resided in Washington state, but mostly remained in the Portland area.
In his early years, Mark worked various positions in the restaurant industry which culminated in a career as a chef, manager and later, a restaurant owner with his wife, Debbie. The past several years, he worked at Terwilliger Plaza in Portland. His strong work ethic and sense of humor always made him a favorite with colleagues and customers. He readily shared his expertise and trained many people over the years. In the past months, Mark was able to cook with his grandchildren and share his legacy.
Mark enjoyed watching the NFL and WWE. He loved his team, the Raiders and remained a steadfast fan.
He also loved Christmas, his favorite holiday. Most of all, Mark loved his wife, family and friends. He was instinctually compassionate,thoughtful and would do whatever possible to help someone in need.
Mark is survived by his wife, Deborah, parents Carl and Rose Hoyt of Mill City, OR, mother-in-law Barbara Griffiths of Portland, son Skyler Hoyt of Portland, step son Jake Hicks of Vialia, CA, step daughters, Rikkiel Busser of Gaston OR, Christina Heitzmann of Beavercreek OR, Barbara Dillmon of Vancouver, WA, fourteen grandchildren, one niece and nephew.
Visitation will be held Sunday, June 7th between 11:00 and 4:00 at Lincoln Memorial Park and Funeral Home, 11801 SE Mt Scott Blvd, Happy Valley, OR. Please follow social distancing guidelines in accordance with the funeral home. A Celebration of Life event will be held at a later date to be announced when finalized. In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to The American Cancer Society in Portland.
