Marlys Elaine Martin

Marlys Martin was born on February 19, 1935, in Williston, North Dakota, to Elmer and Mildred Olson. The Olson family moved to the Pacific Northwest when Marlys was a young child, later settling in Seattle, Washington, where Marlys became a big sister to Larry and met the love of her life, Hal Martin, in 1948.

Marlys and Hal were married in 1952 and shortly after welcomed their first child, Hal Jr. They later welcomed a daughter, Michele, and a son, Craig.

As a young woman, Marlys held positions at Boeing while also raising her family and throwing fabulous dinner parties. She was baptized in the Catholic Church at the age of 35. She loved to play bridge, sew, garden, craft, travel and spend time with her children and, later, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is remembered for her warmth, her love of reading, her prowess with the daily crossword, and the delicious homemade meals she made for her family to eat promptly at 6pm.

She passed away peacefully on September 13, 2024, surrounded by loved ones and holding the hand of her husband of nearly 72 years. She is survived by her husband, Hal; her three children Hal Jr., Michele, and Craig; her grandchildren Andrea, Amber, Jesse, and Stephanie; her great-grandchildren Sarah, Maya, Areli, Addysin, Cooper, and Margaret; and her great-great-grandchild, Rowyn; as well as her two beloved West Highland Terriers, Sophie and Lily.

A funeral service for Marlys will be held Saturday, September 28, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at St Anthony's Catholic Church located at, 9905 SW McKenzie St, Tigard, OR 97223,
