

Maura was born June 20, 1963 in Corvallis, Oregon to Eileen McDermott and James Michael ‘Mike’ White. She grew up in NE Portland and graduated from St Rose School and Grant High School. She attended Oregon State University where she was a member of the Alpha Phi sorority, wrote for the Daily Barometer and was involved in student government. She earned her Master’s degree in Education and Human Services from the University of Portland.
Maura positively impacted hundreds if not thousands of people in her roles at Portland State University, the University of Portland, Oregon Health Authority and Clackamas Dogs Foundation. She served as President and CEO of the Police Activities League for 18 years, Executive Director of the Portland Parks Foundation, and for the last ten years, Executive Director of Mother and Child Education Center. She was President of the Hollywood Boosters Business Association since 2015 and was a longtime volunteer for CYO Camp Howard and Archbishop Howard School at St Rose. She also owned her own consulting firm, MKW Matchmaker Consulting.
Maura was devoted to her family and adored her children above all else, Anthony ‘Nino’ Cioeta and Annamarie Cioeta.
Maura was preceded in death by her father, James White; her brother, Mike White; and her son, Dominic Cioeta. Maura is survived by her mother, Eileen McDermott; sister and best friend, Meghan McDermott; son, Anthony Cioeta; daughter, Annamarie Cioeta all of Portland, Ore.; nephews, Angelo (Abby) Markantonatos, Andreas Markantonatos, and Nicholas Markantonatos; and many other family members and friends.
