Mike was born in St. Paul, Minnesota to Julia and Roman Mours. The oldest of six children (Judy, Richard, David, Patrick, and Tommy) he exhibited an adventurous and independent spirit from an early age, that stayed with him throughout his life. Mike spoke fondly of his time fishing and trapping as a young man. He left high school early to work as a baker, and at age 20 met Judee, his wife to be at the local roller-skating rink. Mike and Judee married in 1963, and by the time they moved to Oregon in 1966, they had completed their family with three children (John, James, Jeanne). Mike was a craftsman, and could build just about anything with his hands. He especially enjoyed working with wood. This skill transferred well into his career of 30 years, as owner and operator of Northwest Weatherstripping. Mike lived in the greater Portland area, but was a simple country man at heart. He found true peace and solitude when in the forests. He most enjoyed time in eastern Oregon hunting, fishing, and camping with his family, and with his sons. After he retired Mike also enjoyed gold panning, taxidermy, and exploring the sport of trapping. Mike was a genuine man, who could be frank, but also funny. He lived life without pretense, and learned to laugh and forgive in his old age. He was ever enduring and ever pursuing.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, and one of his brothers. Mike is survived by his three brothers, his three children, and his granddaughter. A viewing and funeral services will be held on Wednesday Oct. 4th at 11:30 a.m., at Lincoln Memorial Park & Funeral Home in Portland, Oregon. Please contact Lincoln Memorial for further information.
