

Patricia Ann McDonald passed away peacefully on May 24, 2025, at the age of 87. She was born on June 14, 1937, in Portland, Oregon, to Frances and William Palmer. She graduated from Lincoln High School and went on to pursue studies at the University of Oregon and OHSU, ultimately earning her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Harper Community College in 1977.
Patricia married the love of her life, Michael McDonald, on March 21, 1959. Together, they shared nearly five decades of love, laughter, and devotion, building a life centered around family and deep companionship until his passing in 2006. Patricia worked as a geriatric nurse across Illinois, Wisconsin, Tennessee, and Kentucky. In 1990 she returned home to Oregon, where she served as a nurse with the Red Cross.
After retirement Patricia moved to Gearhart. She was a member of P.E.O., including serving as State President, and volunteered at the Columbia River Maritime Museum and the Liberty Theatre in Astoria, Oregon. Her love for the Pacific Northwest, its culture, and history was evident in all she did.
Family was the center of Patricia’s life. She is survived by her children: daughter Debora May (Tom), and sons Michael Peter (Susan) and David Joseph (Bobbie). She was a beloved grandmother to Elizabeth (Doug), Steven (Desirae), Daniel, Christopher (Samantha), Adam (Hayley), William, and Sarah (Theresa), and a great-grandmother to Emma Grace. She was proceeded in death by her parents and husband Mike
To honor her memory, donations may be made to the Columbia River Maritime Museum or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
A memorial service will be held on July 17th at the Chapel of the Holy Names at Mary’s Woods in Lake Oswego, Oregon at 11am. Reception to follow.
Patricia will be remembered for her strength, her lifelong dedication to others, and the deep love she had for her family and community. She will be missed dearly and remembered always.
